The ESD A-B Draw Tournament Series
If you are interested in playing darts, but you can't commit to playing every week or form a team of your own, the A-B draw series is just for you. The format relies on creating parity amongst teams by splitting the group into two pools based on ability. Teams are drawn, one player from each pool. This time around, we are going to have A-B Draw at different locations
How it works...
- The field is limited to the first 16 players who check in either by email or Facebook.
- League runs as long as there is demand/players to play.
- All players will report to the location at 7pm.
- Each player pays $10 to enter plus cost of games.
We then take the player ratings of all players based on their prior season stats and split them into a top half (A Pool), and bottom half (B Pool). When the draw happens, each team will be comprised of one person from each pool. This will prevent any Super Teams getting drawn together. The best player can be paired with anyone from #9 to #16 depending on the draw. This will help keep the teams fair. Players new to the league will be assessed by other players in attendance via pick up games to determine whether they should be placed in the A or B pool. If they have an idea of their own ability (PPD or MPR), that may be used to determine pool assignment.
- The event runs just like a blind draw tournament with Double Elimination.
- Matches will be either Best 3 or Best of 5.
- Games will be either 701 stacked and Cricket and are shot in specific order described below.
- Format will be Flip to see who shoots first in 701, Loser shoots first in Cricket, Diddle for Choice to shoot first or pick the game (701 or Crk) for the third game.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will win cash to take home that night (Up to $100, $40, $20 respectively).
- There will be no party or banquet for this league as it will be cash only.
A commitment to play every week is not necessary, but hopefully there will be enough people interested that we should be able to field a full bracket.
